Private label rights, also known as PLR, are similar to resale rights in that when you receive PLR rights to a product you have the right to resell it. However, private label rights offer more than just the right to sell the product to someone else. You can also edit the product, change the title and use your name as the author name to resell it. In short, you can usually do just about anything you want with the product. However, some private label rights products do come with limitations. As with resell rights products, the details of what you can and can’t do are in the license that comes with each product.
The types of PLR products you will see most often are private label rights articles and private label rights ebooks. Obviously, the main difference between the two is the length. Private label ebooks are usually much shorter than regular books. Many times, they are between 20 to 50 pages long, which would hardly qualify as a book if it were printed. However, this length is typical for ebooks because people do not like to read long books on the screen. Not all PLR ebooks are this short though. Some are a couple hundred pages long or longer.
PLR articles, on the other hand, are very short. They usually range between 300 and 500 words, although some are shorter or longer. These articles can be used as website content or to create backlinks to a website. They can also be used in an e-mail newsletter or for anything else you need articles for. In fact, you can even combine a group of PLR articles to make an ebook. The opposite is true as well. In most cases, you can divide a PLR ebook into sections to use as articles.
Private label resell rights are usually more desirable than regular resale rights because you have more freedom with what you can do with the product. You also don’t have to worry as much about receiving a crappy product that you’d be embarrassed to resell. When you buy regular resell rights, you can’t edit or change the content; you can only sell it as-is. PLR sales allow editing, so you can clean up the copy before selling if it needs it.
